Sponsored Cycle

Mondays (13th February 2017) see's the latest fundraising event take place to help send our young volunteers to the Outward Bound Trust for a weeks training course in April designed to develop leadership, confidence, teamwork and many other key skills required for the working world.  Over the past few months the teamof club volunteers have undertaken a range of fundraising initiatives and we are delighted to be edging ever closer to the total target of £3000.  The cycle will see the group along with Aidan and James cycle from Broxburn to Edinburgh and back using the Union Canal.  The cycle itself takes in 25 miles of the route.

For BUSC this is an excellent opportunity to give something back to the group of volunteers who over the past 4-5 years have been giving up endless hours of their time to help support the wide range of community initiatives that the club offers.  Whilst BUSC have found this to be an invaluable tool it is clear that local youngsters also value the opportunity to develop skills in a real life working environment and the impact that it has on them is clear for all to see.  The opportunity to develop real life skills, organise events, manage people, be imaginative and creative are just some of the areas that we have noticed huge changes in our young people.

If you would like to support this initiative in any way please speak to one of the staff members or feel free to drop some spare change in the various money collections that are placed around the club.  All monies raised will go towards this programme.

The club intend on developing and working with The Outward Bound Trust on a bi-annual basis to ensure that young volunteers within the club are supported as best as possible.  Having visited and done some work already with the organisation BUSC value the impact that these courses will have on our young people.
