Reminder - Big Bike Revival - BUSC Cycling Open Day, 30 October 2016

BUSC are hosting a Big Bike Revival Event on Sunday 30 October 2016, 11am-5pm at Albyn Park.  Why not dust down your bike from the shed/garage and come and join us for some of the events happening throughout the day.  We will be offering a number of options to those interested in taking part on the day with all activities detailed below:

Led Cycles - For those interested in taking part in a led cycle the routes will be confirmed to the group on the morning of the event and will be led by Aidan & James and will last around an hour and will leave at 11am and 3pm.  We are keen to show off the local cycle networks that West Lothian has to offer and encourage more people to use their bikes for local journeys.  This is only suitable for two wheeled bikes.

Bike Maintenance – not been on the bike in a long time?  Not sure how to fix some ongoing problems?  Don’t worry, look the bike out, dust off the cobwebs and bring it down to David a local bike maintenance officer who will be able to lead you through demonstrations and help get your bike up and running.

Skills Stations – Not been on the bike in a while?  Feeling a little rusty?  Why not try out some of the fun skills stations to test your balance, stopping skills, awareness, and manoeuvres.

Adaptive Bikes – Have a disability or know someone that has?  Perhaps they haven’t had the opportunity to take part in cycling?  Well nows their chance.  We have a range of adaptive bikes ideal for those of 12+ including three wheeled trikes, hand driven bikes, double loaders and others.  Come down and give it a go, and see whether this is the remedy required to help get your loved one out and exercising.

Free Prize Draw – For all those that come down on the day you will have an opportunity to enter yourself in to the free prize draw which will be taking place.  Winners will be announced on the Monday after the event.  Prizes on offer will be confirmed on the day.

Local Cycle Maps – Don’t know where to go?  Come down and get yourself some local cycle maps and learn new routes and areas to visit.  West Lothian has a lot to offer and what better way to see it than on two wheels and not a car in site.

Times you could choose to use your bike and ditch the car:  Going to the shops for messages?  Dropping the kids off at school?  Visiting the Albyn?  Working locally?
