Children In Need & Countryfile Ramble - Free Tickets

On Saturday October 8th, 09:30-15:00, BBC Countryfile will be filming a Ramble around Holyrood Park in Edinburgh. Around 1000 walkers will take part, led by presenter Ellie Harrison. The film will be shown in November on BBC1 and will feature a family from one of our funded projects in Scotland (please note - this project has already been selected).

We would like to offer local projects the chance to join in the Ramble. Entry is by ticket only and we have reserved some free tickets for children, young people and staff/parents/carers from our projects. Children in prams and children/young people using wheelchairs are welcome (the walk is fully accessible). Each person must have a ticket assigned, and responsibility for children/young people must be taken by a family member.

We would love to see you there!  Please note again that tickets are to join the walk only. While you will be part of the crowd taking part in the film, and it should be a great experience that is being repeated across the UK that weekend, only the specific story from one already selected project will be featured on tv.

As well as showing your support for BBC Children in Need in Scotland, you will get a

If this is something that may be of interest please contact Aidan ASAP on a.forbes@busc.org.uk if you would like tickets and how many you would like. Up to ten places are available per project but there is likely to be more demand than tickets so you may not be successful this time. Given that tickets are very much in demand, we would like you to make sure that you can definitely use any tickets you request and accept - we would like to avoid no-shows on the day.

BUSC Technical Centre - Limited Spaces Still Available (05s & 06s)

ARE YOU AS GOOD AS YOU CAN BE?  CAN YOU DO MORE TO DEVELOP?

DO YOU TRAIN AS OFTEN AS YOU SHOULD?  DO YOU WANT TO IMPROVE?

In partnership with Broxburn United Colts we have developed a new technical centre to support our young players improve their technique.  Sessions will be led by UEFA A Licence coach and ex Celtic, Partick Thistle & Blackburn Rovers player Joe Craig and supported by junior coaches/current players from across the club.

Sessions will specifically focus on passing and control but with the right application and desire players will see improvements across a number of areas of the game.

The initial programme will consist of a SIX-WEEK PILOT BLOCK of training on Wednesday afternoons, 5-6pm with a cost of £5 per session.  A range of other support materials will be developed going forward to support players and parents such as individual technique sessions that players can work on in their own time as well as presentations around Mindset, Nutrition & Hydration.  The programme will be rotated/extended to allow age groups from across the club the opportunity to be involved.

Players who wish to take part in the centre should complete and return the attached form to Aidan Forbes (a.forbes@busc.org.uk) or to James Pegg (j.pegg@busc.org.uk).

****Please note this is only open to players from within the 05 & 06 age groups initially.  After the 6 week pilot we will look to gather feedback and roll this out across the club and age groups

Summer is Over for Alive & Kickin

The change in programme for the Alive & Kickin participants over the Summer time proved to be a great success.

We welcomed over 300 visits from men and ladies in our community, aged Over 50's, to participate in one of our additional activities during a eight week period.  These activities included a visit to Jupiter Artland, The Falkirk Wheel, Ibrox Stadium, a barge trip on the Union Canal, and a picnic at North Berwick Beach.

Now that Summer is over and everyone is back to the normal routine, we have a varied choice of activities for our Over 50's to take part in, including Walking Football, the Walking Club, Sporting Memories, Chair Exercises and Handball with Invigor8.  Also new for this block we have Adaptive Bikes, which is on the first Friday of every month.

We hope you can join us.  For further details contact Leigh on 01506 858057 or email l.lauder@busc.org.uk
