Another Thursday, Another Activity

There is never a dull moment in the Alive & Kickin Invigor8 Programme, and today is another Thursday which means another activity!

Flower arranging and Body Balance were the theme of today, and a massive thanks to Yvonne of Just to Say (facebook.com/'just to say') who gave a talk on her Florist which is situated on Broxburn Main Street.  Yvonne presented a lesson on buttonholes and corsages, which went down well with all our participants.

We were then delivered a session on Body Balance from Chris from West Lothian Leisure, while was in line with a Wellness theme which this block of Invigor8 has been centered around.

Join us for next weeks session, 2pm at the Albyn Park.  We look forward to welcoming you.

Additional Walking Football Session

Due to high demand, the Alive & Kickin Programme have added in an additional Walking Football Weekly session.

Join us at the Albyn Park on a Friday morning (starting this Friday 12th Feb) , 10.30am - 11.30am, if you would like to see what the hype is all about.

Walking Football is the fastest growing sport, which is played with the same rules as 'normal' football, but the fastest pace is a walk.  Its a great opportunity to become back involved in the game, if you have given up due to 'old age', or are recovering from an injury.

We look forward to welcoming you.  Cost for the session is £3.

Our current session runs every Tuesday morning from 10.30am, and new players are also welcome to this session.

I love coming along to play Walking Football, it keeps me fit and active, and just as importantly, gives me an opportunity to socialise with like-minded people.

Kool Kurling

Alive & Kickin Invigor8 participant,s today took part in one of the 'favourite' activities.

A very competitive game of New Age Kurling took place at the Broxburn Sports Centre Kurling rink, with some of the men of the group becoming the A&K Champions!

We had a great turnout at the Invigor8 Programme today, and hope that all who participated thoroughly enjoyed the session.

Next week's session is Hatton Fit Boxercise, and we welcome new participants who would like to come and learn a new skill, or those who would like to meet new friends.  Join us at the Albyn Park, 2pm.  Cost is £2

Alive & Kickin is Invigor8...ing

The Alive & Kickin Invigor8 session included the most relaxed session we have ever had in over a year of the Programmes existence.

We welcomed Melanie Shinton from www.simplyhoetsu.com  for a session on Mindfulness.

Mindfulness allows us to realise and release mental tension, as well as physical tension.  It helps us become aware of habitual patterns we have to thoughts and striving.  The person meditating also gets to view in greater context, their thoughts and we are able to live more freely within our mind and body.  This can then lead to feelings of peace and equanimity.

We would like to thank Mel for her time, and our participants will look forward to a daily meditation!

If you would like to join Invigor8 next week, we are Indoor Kurling at Broxburn Sports Centre, from 2-3pm.  Cost is £2 and new participants are welcome.
