Daniel Stavert Memorial Tournament

BUSC were proud to host the Daniel Stavert Memorial Tournment which has now become an annual event.  As always friends and family turned up in great numbers to remember Daniel and pay their respects in the most fitting way, through the game he loved.

Daniel was a member of the club and played through until U17s before tragically losing his battle with cancer on 16th March 2013 aged 17.

The tournament itself was a fantastic day with 14 teams taking part throughout the afternoon.  Congratulations to the McGrath's who took away first prize.  All the proceeds raised from entry fees, bake sale and raffles will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust.

Alive & Kickin Enjoy an Away Day

Participants of all our Alive & Kickin Programmes enjoyed a day away, last week.  We took to the River Forth and headed off to Inchcolm Island.

This Island is on our doorstep but the majority of our party had never ventured there before and now cant believe it had taken them so long.  We picked the best day of Summer, so far, and enjoyed our picnic and exploring the Abbey on the island.

After spending almost two hours on the island we headed back on the Maid of the Forth, under all three of the Bridges, with Scott, the Captain of the Ship, giving us some information on all three.

If you would like more information on the Alive & Kickin Programme, please contact Leigh on 01506 858057 or email l.lauder@busc.org.uk  We will have more Away Days over the Summer, and Over 50's will be welcome to bring grandchildren.

Invigor8 get their Hips moving with Salsa

Last Thursday our Invigor8ors took part in a Salsa lesson and really got those hips moving with plenty of rhythm.  Plenty of learning and laughing was done...all at the same time and our group can now perform some cha-cha-cha's.

We also welcomed Cilla to our session, who is a Guide Dog in training.  Thanks to her trainer Ricky Whitehead, who gave the group a very informative talk about the hard work Cilla goes through to become a Guide Dog to a blind person.

This week we take part in a Handball session at the Albyn Park, and welcome the Livingston Players for a theatrical performance.

Join us at 2pm until 3.30pm, cost is £2, and bring a friend.

Volunteers Wanted to support growth of BUSC Disability Section

Over the past two months BUSC has been pro-active in developing and growing our disability section within the club and have seen numbers attending our pan disability class on a Saturday morning increase from 2 to 10 within this short period.  This has been a fantastic achievement in the short term as we look to grow and develop the pathway within the club.

Ultimately though if we want to establish the section and develop it to the best of our abilities we would be keen to identify some more volunteers from within the community to support us with this.  We would be keen to get more volunteers involved with not only the coaching aspect but potentially to drive the section and bring new ideas to the club.

If this is something that would interest you BUSC are willing to support you with a personal development plan and coach education assistance to help you achieve your goals.  No experience is required and volunteers can start getting involved from as young as 14 years of age.

If this is something that interests you or you are aware of anybody who would be keen to get involved please contact Aidan on a.forbes@busc.org.uk

Please also support us by sharing via Social Media.

Holiday Camp Review

BUSC would like to thank all the kids that attended both the Multi Sport and Football camps over the past two weeks of Easter Holidays.  We were delighted to welcome nearly 50 kids over the two camps and hope that they enjoyed themselves as much as we did.

As always we again would like to thank the young volunteers from the club would give up their holidays to support what we do and gain invaluable experience within the field of Sports Coaching.  Special thanks to Marcus Millar, Jamie Henderson, Calum Boyle, David Howie & Ruairidh Little.

We hope that the club members continue to support us with the camps and programmes that we deliver as ultimately without you we are nothing.

Finally if you would like to any information on any of the wide range of projects we deliver please call the office on 01506 858 057.

Multi Sport Camp a Great Success

Today sees the end of week 1 of the Easter Holiday Camps and its been a busy one at Albyn Park.  More than 18 kids have taken part in the Multi Sport Camp throughout the week with those who attended getting the opportunity to try out a whole host of sports and fun games.  Attendees had the opportunity to take part in Handball, Mini Golf, Football, Rounders, Rugby, Boxing, Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Free Play opportunities as well as other fun activities such as Capture the Flag, the Cube and Relays etc

As well as those who attended we also owe a huge amount of thanks to our young volunteers who continue to support us with delivery of camps and programmes throughout the club.  This week Marcus Millar, Ruairidh Little, David Howie and Calum Boyle were good enough to help us as we try and provide opportunities for young volunteers within the club to gain valuable experience in the work place environment.  We are delighted that they have also agreed to help out next week with our Football Camp.  Thanks again guys.

If you are interested in volunteering with BUSC please contact a member of staff for further details.

Finally we still have spaces available for our Football Camp which starts on Monday with over 24 children now signed up.  If you would like further details please contact Aidan on a.forbes@busc.org.uk
