Bootbox

BUSC would like to thank everyone who has so far supported the Bootbox initiative here in the club and in particular those who have either purchased boots or those who have donated boots.

Please note that this initiative will be ongoing and we will continue to seek support from members with this, whether it be in buying or selling.  The Bootbox itself is located in the reception area of the club.

Many of the boots that are handed in by you will not be re-used within the club but please rest assured that these are being put to good use including supporting local schools, disability schools and other members of our local community.

Your continued support with this is greatly appreciated and we would like to remind anyone who has some old boots that you can hand these in to the office to Aidan.  Also if you have any ideas on organisations/people that would benefit from this please let us know.  Finally please ensure boots are cleaned and are in a condition that they can be re-used before handing in.

Sunday Cycle Club

As per our post at over the Christmas period we will indeed be starting up a Sunday cycling club which will run initially on a monthly basis to try and gauge interest.  You must be minimum of 8 years old to attend but children aged 8-12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The first cycle will be setting of from Albyn Park on Sunday 22 January 1.30pm taking in some scenic local routes.

Not only will you be able to get out on the bike, soak up some fresh air but it is also a great opportunity to meet new people and see the area from a different perspective.

If you are interested please e-mail Aidan on a.forbes@busc.org.uk to register.  This will allow us to plan and keep people notified if the weather changes.

Volunteering is very rewarding and can open up new avenues for you and the club to explore, and at the same time you're benefiting the community.  Its a real win win.

BUSC Sunday Cycle Club

In 2016 BUSC will be kicking off monthly led cycles encouraged to get more people active, using their bikes and exploring the fantastic environment that we have on our doorstep here in Broxburn not to mention the social aspect that comes with many of our programmes.

The cycles will be planned and led by a member of the BUSC Staff and supported by a volunteer from within the club and are a sure fire way to help blow away the Christmas cobwebs and work off some of the excess Christmas Trimmings.

The cycles will leave from the main entrance at the Albyn and are targeted at all levels of cyclist but children must be at least 8 years of age if you want to bring them.  So why not get the bikes out the shed and get the family down to join us and help grow BUSC's cycling section.  Dates of the first three cycles can be found below:

Dates - 22 January, 26 February & 19 March

Alive & Kickin Enjoy the Festivities

Our Alive & Kickin Group headed to local Italian Restaurant Giannino's for their Christmas Lunch.  After a year of attending our sporting activities, they certainly deserved the time to relax and socialise with each other.

Our Alive & Kickin Programme continues to grow from strength to strength, and has been one of our 2016 highlights.  We cannot wait until 2017, when hopefully we will outreach to even more of our community and continue to change lives for the better.

BUSC Christmas Fun Day

BUSC would like to thank 40 children who attended the Christmas Fun Day and hope that everyone had a great day.

The day itself was a challenge due to weather conditions but with the new Room For All open it offered great space and refuse for a range of fun activities for the children to take part in as well as a visit from Santa.

As always a massive thanks to you our members who continue to support these programmes and the club in general.

Details of next years Holiday Camp programme will be released in early January.
